The next morning, my stomach felt better, but somehow I was even tenser than I had been when Mom had started growing. When I walked downstairs, Mom was sitting at the table. Her boobs were smaller, but she still wasn’t wearing a shirt. “What are you doing?” “Huh?” Mom looked down. “Oh, I thought about putting on shirt, but I didn’t have anything that looked good in this size, so...” “Mom, your boobs are smaller. You can put on a shirt now.” “Yeah, but I’ve been topless for the last few days and you didn’t say anything, so I thought you were okay with that.” “Not if your clothes fit again. Put on a shirt.” “Jeez, fine...” She took a sip of coffee and walked upstairs. When she returned she was wearing a shirt, but no bra. “I’ll need you to do a little more suckling today,” Mom said. “There’s point in putting on a bra if I’m just going to have to take it off again.” “Fine,” I grumbled. “But I’m not drinking as much as I did last night. I have a tummy—I mean, stomach ache.” Mom

“Katy, sweetie...” I knew what Mom was going to ask me when I saw the wet spots on her shirt. Before I get into the details, you need to understand that Mom had me when she was young. My father and she got married right out of high school, but the marriage didn’t last long before Dad decided that he wanted out. He packed up and left me and Mom to fend for ourselves, and that’s the way it was for fifteen years until she met Dan. Mind you, Mom did not marry Dan. She was just lonely enough that she slept with him, and her timing was unlucky enough that she conceived my baby sister, Carrie. Dan was gone long before she found out the truth. So, I had a newborn baby sister by the time I was in high school, and by the time I was ready for college, Mom was exhausted. That’s when my grandparents decided that my Mom needed a break. They took Carrie in the summer so that she didn’t have to worry about her for a few months. It seemed to do my mother some good, at least for a while. I noticed
